Pictures from our trip

After Susan finished the semester at Pitt, we visited the beach at Bethany Beach, Delaware. Googling the address showed us a giant resort on the beach. It lied. Instead we were in a small motel-like suite across the street from the giant resort. No view, but the rooms were quite nice.

Our Itinerary

May 29 Longwood gardens
May 30-June 5 Bethany Beach
May 31 Fenwick Island State Park, beach
June 1 A walk in Bethany Beach
June 2 Ferry from Lewes to Cape May, and back
June 3 Chincoteague National Wildlife Reserve
June 4 The beach at Bethany Beach
June 5-6 Overnight in Leesburg, VA

Although a pleasant place, Bethany Beach enforces it parking meters assiduously, even in late May when the place is mostly empty. We opted for miniature golf one evening at Captain Jack's (amazing decor) and parked in a small empty lot across the street. In a fit of excessive civic consciousness, I put my money in the meter, feeling stupid. As we waited for our game to start, lo and behold, along came a retiree checking the meters. I felt less stupid, but annoyed at the rampant pettiness overtaking our culture.
